World Orienteering Week (WOW) is an annual international initiative led by the International Orienteering Federation to promote the sport of orienteering and increase global participation in navigation-based outdoor activities. Celebrated by schools, clubs, institutions, and federations across more than 100 countries, WOW serves as a platform to introduce people of all ages to the fundamentals of map reading, route choice, and decision-making through engaging and accessible activities. The week-long celebration emphasizes the educational, physical, and cognitive benefits of orienteering, making it a powerful tool for experiential learning, youth development, and community engagement. By encouraging participation in both urban and natural environments, World Orienteering Week fosters environmental awareness, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and self-confidence, while showcasing orienteering as a lifelong sport that combines adventure, fitness, and thinking skills in a unique and inclusive format.

The International Orienteering Federation´s goals regarding the organization of this annual event are as follows:
Increasing the visibility and accessibility of orienteering to young people, increasing the number of participants both in the schools’ activities, as well and in the clubs’ activities in all countries of National Federations, helping teachers to implement orienteering in a fun and educational way and to get more new countries to take part in orienteering.

NthAdventure has been hosting World Orienteering Week in India from the past few years introducing the sport to young and adult and building the sport from the ground ups.
